Jenifer Higgins joined Home Leasing in 2016. She serves as Development Manager and is responsible for bringing new housing developments to fruition under the Home Leasing portfolio. In her role, Jenifer actively participates in site selection, due diligence review, underwriting, financing applications and closing. She is an Owner’s Representative for five communities in Western New York and coordinates compliance with funders’ design guidelines, monitors project costs, and acts as the liaison among all branches of Home Leasing to deliver of a quality product.
Before joining Home Leasing, Jenifer worked at United Way of Greater Rochester for 17 years where she managed the $2.3 million Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Housing Fund and served as a Program Officer for Aging Services. Jenifer also oversaw the $2.5 million annual investment in community programs designed to maintain the independence of older adults who live at home. Before United Way, Jen worked at Home Properties as a member of the Affordable Housing Development team. Jenifer has contributed to 10 tax credit awards resulting in more than 500 affordable units.
Jenifer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor and a master’s degree in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is actively involved in the Garden Path of Penfield Garden Club, a member of Monroe County Aging Alliance, and serves as an Advisory Board Member for Catholic Family Center Aging Services.
