Megan joined Home Leasing in 2010 and represents the third generation of the Nelson Leenhouts family. At Home Leasing, Megan serves as Vice President of Development where she is responsible for determining project feasibility, executing funding applications and partnering with neighborhoods and service providers to meet the needs of the community. Megan is also designated as an Owner’s Representative for seven communities in New York and Pennsylvania. As an Owner’s Representative, Megan oversees development and construction costs, coordinates reviews to ensure the team follows design guidelines set by project funding sources and acts as a liaison among all branches of the company to ensure the new community is of high quality and will meet the needs of our residents.
Before Home Leasing, Megan worked in social services where the need for affordable, supportive housing was all too evident. Her experience transformed into a passion for creating housing opportunities for people at every income level. Megan has served our residents in various positions including Lease-Up Specialist and Regional Leader on the Property Management team. In 2015, she transitioned into the Development Manager position where she helped bring several tax credit communities to Home Leasing’s portfolio. In addition to her affordable housing experience, Megan helped bring Charlotte Square in the East End, Home Leasing’s $17 million market rate, LEED Gold Certified community to Rochester’s city center.
Megan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development and a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. She holds certifications in Tax Credit Compliance, Advanced Occupancy Specialist and Blended Occupancy Specialist. She sits on the board of Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach.
