Sperrick named chairman of the board for Home Leasing

Cathy Sperrick has replaced her father, Nelson Leenhouts, as chairman of the board of Home Leasing, LLC (provided photo).
Cathy Sperrick has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors for Home Leasing, LLC, and Home Leasing Construction, LLC.
Sperrick, who has held various leadership positions since joining the company in 2004, replaces Home Leasing founder Nelson Leenhouts, who is now chairman emeritus. Leenhouts, Sperrick’s father, served as chairman the past three years.
“I am honored to have had the opportunity to work alongside my father these past 18 years and feel privileged to be following in his footsteps as chairman of the board,” Sperrick said in a news release. “We have a tremendous leader in Bret Garwood as our CEO, and dedicated directors on our board. Together we are devoted to honoring Nelson’s legacy and the principles and values the company was founded on.”
Founded in 2003, Rochester-based Home Leasing is guided by its mission of “improving the lives of our residents and the communities in which we work.” The firm specializes in the development, construction and management of quality, affordable housing. The company is owned and operated by three generations of the Leenhouts family.
Jeff Leenhouts, Nelson’s son, serves as vice chairman and leads commercial property management. Sarah Struzzi, Sperrick’s daughter, is the senior vice president of property management and operations and Megan Houppert, Sperrick’s daughter, is vice president of development.
In 2019, Bret Garwood was appointed as Chief Executive Officer after joining the company as Chief Operating Officer in 2017. Under Garwood’s leadership, the company has expanded its reach and established an office in Albany. In 2020, a Board of Directors was formed with the goal of ensuring long-term success of the company and leadership in the affordable housing industry.
Over the past 18 years, the company has developed and built over 30 properties. Home Leasing has 200 employees and manages 3,000 apartments across New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
