Connected Communities Visionary Award

We are excited to share that our partner Connected Communities recently hosted its Connection Gala: A Decade of Connection, A Future of Transformation — and our team had the honor of being invited to attend this meaningful event, where our founder, Nelson Leenhouts, was posthumously awarded the Visionary Award.

This award recognizes extraordinary leadership that has not only transformed organizations but also the communities they serve — and Nelson’s legacy truly embodies that spirit. Under his leadership, Home Leasing partnered with Connected Communities to develop 72 units of affordable housing at Warfield Square and now, 54 units at Beechwood Family Apartments. His commitment to building strong, equitable neighborhoods continues to make a lasting impact, and it was incredibly moving to see that impact recognized.

Alongside Nelson, other honorees included Holli Budd, the founding Board Chair of Connected Communities, and Former Mayor Lovely Warren-Crossdale, both of whom have played pivotal roles in expanding opportunity and stability in the EMMA and Beechwood neighborhoods. The evening was a great reminder of the work we’re all a part of and the incredible foundation that Nelson laid for us. It was a proud moment to see his vision honored and to stand among community leaders continuing the work he so passionately believed in.
